Fraud Prevention Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This policy summarises how Vyndle prevents, detects, and responds to fraud across the platform. It is written for users, creators, and advertisers and describes the controls we operate and the controls our payment provider operates on our behalf. Operational details that would telegraph our detection capabilities to bad actors are intentionally kept general.

1. Our approach

Vyndle applies defence in depth across three stages:

  • Prevention — pre-transaction controls that stop ineligible or high-risk accounts and payment methods from being created or used in the first place.
  • Detection — in-flight controls that screen transactions and account activity for fraud indicators while they happen.
  • Response — post-transaction controls that investigate suspicious activity, hold campaign payouts on a suspension or ban, reverse a transaction where a policy ground or a scheme chargeback applies, and cooperate with law enforcement and our payment provider.

2. Identity and eligibility checks

On the payer side, only users aged 18 or older may purchase. This is an account-level requirement established when the account is created: every account holder must enter their date of birth and confirm they are 18 or older, and an account cannot be created with a declared age under 18. It is not a check repeated at each transaction, and the further age-assurance layers it is intended to sit alongside are not yet live. See our User Registration Policy for the full eligibility rules and the current state of those layers.

On the payee side, when creator payouts are enabled, creators who receive payouts will go through identity verification (KYC) and sanctions / politically-exposed-person screening administered through our payment provider, in line with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth). Screening that does not clear will block payouts on the account. See section 3 of our Creator Registration Policy for what we collect and how it is used.

3. Payment-method verification

Card and account verification on Vyndle is handled by our payment provider. In particular, our payment provider applies card-velocity checks, 3D Secure where the card scheme supports it, and device-fingerprinting signals. Vyndle does not see raw card data; we receive risk decisions and transaction outcomes from the payment provider and act on them.

4. Trust & Safety investigation

When suspicious activity is flagged — by automated signals, a user report, our payment provider, or law enforcement — our Trust & Safety team reviews the account. A review on its own does not change what the account can do. What follows below applies once we decide to suspend or ban it:

  • A campaign payment the brand has approved is captured and held by our payment provider rather than released to a suspended or banned creator. On a suspension, the held payout goes out on the next scheduled release run once the suspension ends; if the account is instead terminated, the held funds are dealt with as described below.
  • No new tips or new subscriptions can be started to a suspended account.
  • Subscriptions already running keep billing to the creator's own account during a suspension. A ban cancels them.

If fraud is confirmed, the account is terminated and any outstanding balance is frozen. Vyndle cooperates with law enforcement, the eSafety Commissioner, and our payment provider on the appropriate disposition of the funds. See our Creator Registration Policy and Content Monitoring Policy for the full enforcement framework.

5. What we monitor for

At a high level, Vyndle and our payment provider monitor for:

  • Chargeback abuse.
  • Repeated chargebacks where the cardholder received and benefited from the service (“friendly fraud”).
  • Card-testing — small probe transactions used to validate stolen card numbers.
  • Payout-redirection attempts — changes to a creator's payout details that look like an account takeover.
  • Account-takeover attempts more generally — credential stuffing, suspicious password resets, session anomalies.
  • Fake engagement (bots, sockpuppets, collusive networks) used to solicit payments or inflate metrics.
  • Unusual payment patterns that may indicate structuring or layering activity associated with money laundering.

Specific signal thresholds are not published — disclosing them would help bad actors evade detection.

6. AML / CTF cooperation

Our payment provider operates under Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing programme obligations, including ongoing transaction monitoring and source-of-funds verification on higher-risk customers. Vyndle cooperates with the payment provider on reportable-matter escalations as required by the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth) and other applicable Australian law.

7. Reporting suspected fraud

If you suspect a fraudulent payment, chargeback, account takeover, or payout-redirection attempt on Vyndle, email hello@vyndle.co with as much detail as you can share — including the transaction reference where relevant. For non-payment scams, impersonation, or platform abuse that does not involve a specific transaction, please use our Reporting Policy instead.

8. Limits — what we will not do

  • We do not act as a tax adviser or KYC adviser for users; if you have a personal tax or compliance question, please seek professional advice.
  • We do not bypass our payment provider's risk controls. If our payment provider declines a transaction or freezes funds under its programme, Vyndle cannot override that decision.
  • We do not unwind a properly-authorised transaction without a policy ground or a scheme chargeback. Outside those grounds, a confirmed payment is final.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our controls, our payment provider's capabilities, or our legal obligations change. When we make material changes we will notify affected users by email or via an on-platform banner before the changes take effect.
